A very action based episode putting everything on the line. They went for one of the most dramatic fights ever in this series which makes sense for a season finale. Luke fought like a hero that he is here. I love how Natsuko also regained her confidence despite all the despair she faced in these recent episodes. She put her skills to full force this time, to her limits. She also reunited with Luke in the aftermath of the battle and their relationship truly has bloomed since its early days. What a show, well done MAPPA. This was an unique one imo, even with the fantasy elements and style. |

Man this Soul Future is just... so random. Like wtf was I seeing... was that a fucking Gate of Babylon I saw for a second there?? And man, Natsuko and the unicorn are just so unserious in the midst of what the fuck is happening. Unicorn is out here cracking jokes about "Lukeee, here's your fav Natsukooo", and Natsuko herself is over here getting flustered and embarrassed because of it... like bruh, right now is NOT the time for this shit. Though hey, who would've thunk, Natsuko got her trusty old pen back, and just guess what she made... the ZENSHUU itself... What could that be you ask? Well, it's none other than fucking Luke himself. You see though, in any other time, I would probably like the fact that Natsuko is pushing herself no matter how hard it is to keep drawing... but they've done actually nothing to make me like the character. I had more emotional attachment to Destiny, so yeah, you'd imagine it was quite sad to see her go away. Then little by little everybody else was vanishing away I guess. Including Natsuko, so she has to make the ultimate Luke... the ZENSHUU himself. Who yeah, looked very cool lol. And hey, we got that confession before she fully vanished out of the world... who know if bro even heard it though. All of it didn't matter in the end, because yayyyy they all lived happily ever after. Hip hip hooray!!!... sigh. I don't know how to feel tbh. I don't really feel closure, but I guess I don't feel like all's wrong. But yeah, there's something wrong. With Luke destroying the last Soul Future to become the Ultimate Void, plus the attempt to resurrect QJ by Meg and Sally almost goes unfinished while Natsuko, Memmeln and QJ comes back unscathed, bird director Tsuruyama's future looks set in stone to wipe off the Last Town from the face of the Earth, and trigger the monster that would leave everyone dead. This is officially where the movie ends, but Natsuko only knows that the good ending can only be done if she overwrites it. And what to draw, since the Voids can copy her? None but her interpretation of the Legendary Hero himself, even if it means wiping out the Ultimate Void, one set of drawings at a time. The remnants of the Nine Soldiers protecting what they have left, even Destiny and Justice protecting the kids, as Memmeln and Unio disappears one by one, along with QJ and Natsuko, with her final drawing that determines the fate of the world, plus the confession that she's been seeking (which we awaited long enough) to truly save the only Soul Future and restore the rest. Unfortunately, this means the end for Natsuko in the movie world, as she settles back to reality, being better than most. For what it truly is, Zenshu may be both a blessing and a curse to MAPPA, but it's an Isekai that's good (but not great), and straight to the point. |

Now THAT is how you end an anime original story. This is how you do a finale. Put our heroes in the most dire of situations, backs against the wall, all hope lost and then give us an amazing come from behind victory. MAPPA put their all star team on this show and it paid off as one of the best anime originals. Not me predicting exactly how everything would turn out tho 😭 Luke becoming the ultimate void, he and Natsuko love being what brings him back and saves the world. That was always the X factor. He lost the love of his life in the original movie, gained it in this version and Natsuko went back home because she finally experienced her first love. Crazy how right about everything I ended up being but I’m not mad at all because it’s exactly what I wanted!! Only thing I’m annoyed about is not getting a Luke and Natsuko kiss. Like I get them wanting to go all bittersweet, but cmon I needed that! OVA or spin off manga me please. That “Luke I love you” saved me though. As expected, Natsuko waking up back in the real world and becoming a more open and kind person, finally seeing everyone in the studio as actual people she can rely on and not just tools to meet a deadline, and she’s wearing her hair up! Somehow the nine soldiers got to reality??! How?! Idk but who cares, I got my Luke and Natsuko reunion now I need to see them married lmao. And yes, that is really them in reality because Unio’s horn is glowing on Natsuko’s head, meaning Unio is really there!! No I won’t be normal about this series I’m gonna miss them so much 😩 ![]() |

It's well produced, it's well animated, it's well voice acted, but I'm not... sold on either the ending, Natsuko and Luke's relationship or the resolution. I can't explain why. It feels like it's missing... something, but I can't put it into words. |

Great ending imo honestly. Everything is fixed, Natsuko gets to finish her movie based off her love with Luke and than Luke and the other nine soldiers are able to come to Natsuko's world from their world and they can reunite. It my opinion it is a great ending. However I will say that a romance sequel wouldn't be hated if you catch my drift. The art style and Animation from this show is honestly amazing and the sound design and music is great as well. As you'd expect from Mappa but yeah another total banger. I have heard a lot of people complain about this being an Isekai and I think that is funny because there is nothing wrong with Isekai's. Sure they are really common but that doesn't make them bad or unoriginal. Look at Re:Zero, Mushuko tensei, overlord, or Konosuba. Just because an idea isn't entirely original doesn't mean it can't be good. |

What an incredible journey it has been. I loved it so fucking much. And, I'd lying if I said I'm not gonna miss this show. What a great original it was. Natsuko gave her all in this episode. The episode was filled with despair but Natsuko's love for Luke was able to give this world another chance. The original author is not very happy with the outcome but we won. Natsuko confessed her love to Luke as well and Luke promised her to meet her in the Kingdom of Reality. That he will come one day for her. So, she should wait for him. It was so cute but sad. Natsuko learned an important lesson about teamwork with this and her new movie was a big hit, thanks to her staff members. She will work again. And, what's that? Did we see our gang back in the Reality? Thank you to everyone involved in this original work. Yamazaki Mistue, Kimiko Ueno, and all the staff members of MAPPA who made this great show possible. I will cherish this show a lot. It was an amazing work. Hope, someday there will be a sequel. |

@deg You know there will be a lot of kissing in Natsuko's world if you know what I mean. Yeah I agree a sequel would be fire but I'm not sure if we will get one. Yeah the 9 soilders were able to come to earth, due to the fact that Natsuko got Isekai'd and not just dreaming. You can even see Unio's horn is still in her hair and begins glowing when they are nearby. |

@DarkDooM2 fr Mappa doing an amazing job as usual. The Animation and style of this show is just beautiful. If more Isekai had styles like this it would be crazy to see how many other successful Isekai we would see. I Would definitely love to see a sequel, getting to see more Natsuko and Luke romance, and all the goofy stuff the gain gets up to would be very fun, I'm looking at you Unio. Her ultimate Luke was of course the hot spring version. I guess there was not enough time for a wake up in hospital and recovery scene, or did the coma never happen?. Almost without any epilogue or other after the denouement. |

Even though I already suspect that Natsuko will finally draw Luke, I still get very excited when it actually happened. There are two reasons I think that way, first one is that Natsuko hasn't draw Luke yet since she arrive in this world while she already draw everyone else. And the second reason is much more important, Luke is something she draw since her childhood, it's her origin of inspiration, so it's suitable to be the savior of this world. This is obviously a love letter to animation, but specifially it's about derivative work (doujinshi). It asks a big question, is it appropriate to change someone else's story? And the answer it provide is "yes, but only if you've a level of commitment of Natsuko, who put her very soul in drawing Luke to change the ending" I'm glad that MAPPA let Mitsue Yamazaki, a female director, to take charge in her original creation and give it a high budget. As someone who watch more than 50 anime per season, I need more anime like this, no, I need the studio to take a bold approach like this. Think of animation less as an industry and more like a playground! |

Nice solid end. I enjoyed this. 7.5/10. The visuals were stunning as you'd expect from mappa and the music was good as well. The characters has their moments. The story is decent as well. Overall kinda a breath of fresh air for isekai maybe. I kinda hope we get more anime originals like this. |

So, why did Natsuko look back at the end? What was she looking at? Ending the series at that frame felt a bit jarring for me. So she finally realized that Luke was essentially her first love. The one character who inspired her life long passion, and she admitted it at the last episode. Seems fitting, but still a deus ex machina to re birth the Tales of Pershing world. |

Even though the ending was predicted in the first episodes, it doesn't get worse, but if you think about it, Natsuko wrote a romantic ending masterpiece, imagine what would happen if she was asked to write another genre. |

This ended in a predictable manner which wasn't too surprising I suppose but I was hoping for a swerve. It looks like Natsuko woke up from a coma and used the lessons she learned from her experiences in the A Tale of Perishing world to complete the latest project and it was a success. I'll admit that for a minute I thought the ending was going to end as the original creator made it but Natsuko was able to fix things at the last possible second. While I liked this series, including the great animation and production values, I thought that the storyline was missing something to make this better, maybe it was because of its predictability? Regardless it was still a good watch. 7/10 |

That end really felt like AOT, didn't it? Memmeln's sacrifice legit felt like Hanji's last stand too. Emotionally, a perfect ending for this series, and I love how much both Luke and Natsuko are focused on. After all that they've gone through, Natsuko returns to the real world, and has changed as a person through her first love. I honestly wish there was a sequel, but since the director has long since left to go back to her original studio, Doga Kobo, it's probably not going to happen. |

@The_Albatr0ss the reason Natsuko looked back at the end is: spoiler: because there was Luke, Mem, QJ, Unio on the other side of the road going the other way. I had to watch it twice. I must include that the Hatsukoi poster is also interesting: the characters in the background are based on Unio et al. :D |

Well first things first - I enjoyed watching the episode for the most part. I was tense the whole time, wondering how Natsuko will be able to fix everything. But the way it all happened was so predictable and basic. Too much time was focused on Luke destroying everything, that the last-minute happy ending felt too rushed and shoehorned in just for the sake of forcing a happy ending. I had zero doubt this would get anything but a happy ending, and that bird that kept saying "it's no use" now seems like it existed for nothing, so I'm quite disappointed at how everything was so forcefully executed just for this "miraculous" happy ending. Luke being in Natsuko's world opens up to a possible second season and I would be absolutely ecstatic if there is going to be one focusing on the characters being in the "Kingdom of Reality" this time, but I won't have any expectations at all that it will ever get one. Anyways, 5/10. Many parts were stupid and made zero sense, and the romance subplot was really the only thing that made me like this show, but it was still somewhat a fun watch overall. |

yaayy everybody is alive and it's as if nothing bad ever happened ever in the first place, how happy and great. I really hate this trope in anime. Would have to agree with the red-haired bird, I do enjoy tragic stories and endings but I guess that's just my preference after all and it seems I'm part of minority. Still waiting for the next anime that is like that. I mean, when even is the last time there was a good anime like that? Of all the big anime, only a few come to my mind and none of them are recent. Something that is really funny to me is how you could see this exact ending coming from 12 episodes away but then you think that maybe it's actually different from what you're thinking and then it's just what you expected to see all along. And what even was that part at the end? Either have her stay in the fantasy world or have her come back to reality normally and leave the fantasy world behind and everything is wrapped up. Well, I guess it is pretty likely that it's just a kind of nostalgic memory thing like, oh, sometimes I still see them in the distance, having fun and sticking together, just as back then. At least, that is the logical conclusion. |

The only way to take down the Ultimate Void was for Natsuko to draw the Ultimate version of Luke Braveheart and even QJ came back briefly for the final battle. Natsuko's version of remaking Tale Of Perishing involves creating a new soul future not just in the last town, but restoring the entire world that was destroyed by the Voids including the Nine Soldiers despite the original creators displeasure. I think there are some creators that are obsessed with tragic endings I guess. The animated love story movie that Natsuko was tasked to create was finally finished with an opening saying "Today is Yesterday, Tomorrow is Now, And Everyday is Summer" for Hatsukoi: First Love with Natsuko finally communicating with the entire staff by thanking them for the project's success. We get somewhat of an anticlimactic ending in with Natsuko running into Luke and the gang that had followed her into the real world. This show was truly amazing as one of the standout show for Winter 2025. It's a magical girl series disguised as an isekai that also serves as a love letter to animation by some of the pioneers of Japanese animation along with some references Western animation from Disney. The best original anime from MAPPA so far. Thank You, MAPPA |

i gotta say the ending is pretty bad. There's no explanation of how she defeated the Ultimate Void… Like, why didn’t she just draw the last Luke from the start? And how is the world still existing when the soul future, and everyone else died? Also, who knows if Natsuko is still alive in real life? I thought she would be stuck in that story forever. I feel like this anime lacks information and the ending feels rushed and forced so bad but i like how natsuko and luke love story and i wanted to see more how they met in the real world. don't just end it like that |
