The official website of the television anime adaptation of Daisuke Aizawa's Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! (The Eminence in Shadow) light novel revealed on Wednesday additional cast, staff, and a third promotional video. The anime is scheduled to premiere on October 5 at 10:30 p.m. on AT-X, followed by Tokyo MX, TV Aichi, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and BS-NTV.
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Mob Psycho 100) and Shin Matsushige (Dr. Stone) are joining the cast as Cid Kagenou's friends Hyoro Gali and Jaga Imo, respectively.

Kazuya Nakanishi (Comic Girls assistant director) is helming the anime at Nexus. Kanichi Katou (Mashiro no Oto) is handling the series composition and Makoto Iino (Tatoeba Last Dungeon Mae no Mura no Shounen ga Joban no Machi de Kurasu Youna Monogatari) is designing the characters.
Aizawa began penning the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in May 2018. Kadokawa began printing the series under its Enterbrain label in November of that year, featuring illustrations by Touzai. The fourth volume went on sale last February 26.
Anri Sakano (Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou desu yo? Z) began a manga adaptation in Monthly Comp Ace in December 2018. Kadokawa will release the eighth volume on September 26. The magazine also began serializing a spin-off by Seta U in July 2019, which has its third volume released on March 26.
Yen Press licensed the light novel and manga adaptation in English in May 2019 and this January and published the fourth novel volume on June 7. The manga's fourth volume shipped on December 7, with its fifth volume scheduled to release on September 20.
