I loved Digimon as a kid. Recently I tried watching the first two seasons again, but they were completely unwatchable: as you went on there were so many evolution sequences that they could take up half an episode, the music was horrible and they just regurgitated the same songs every episode, there were no stakes of any kind. None of these things mattered when I was younger, but I couldn't ignore them now, and I just had to stop watching. It was completely on a whim that I took up Tamers after that, but I wasn't expecting much. As you can probably tell from the

score, I was completely blown away.
The storyline is incomparably better than previous series, in that, well, it actually has one(other than "collect the next thing!!"). It does take a few episodes to pick up the pace, but once it does it's engrossing. This series isn't afraid to be dark and this is greatly evident at times, but has plenty of lighthearted moments too. There are actual stakes in this series, in that if a Digimon dies, it's gone for good, rather than just turning into an egg five minutes later.
The characters are really great in this series. You really do get to care about all of these kids, and they do grow as characters throughout the series. Unlike in the previous seasons, these kids' problems aren't brought up and dealt with within the same episode- many of their problems are deep-rooted and take a long time to fix, if they are fixed at all. Overall, they are very human and you can't help but root for them. The Digimon don't change a whole lot, but at least some of them do grow in this series(Impmon mostly).
I'll be honest, the art in this show isn't anything spectacular. However, it isn't distractingly so. The character designs do a good job of conveying their personalities, and the monster battles are done really well. The Digimon designs are REALLY cool(come on, there's a rabbit with guns for hands and a ninja fox, what's not to like ;D), and the Digital World(which you get to about half way through) has some amazing looking areas.
I don't know what the music is like in the English version(apparently the English version was really heavily edited, with a lot of the violence taken out), but it is pretty good in the Japanese sub(and pretty good is a hell of a lot better than the goddamn awful that was the Adventure soundtrack). The OP is alright, nothing mind-blowing but still catchy and cheesy in a good way. The soundtrack is good overall, with one or two particularly amazing pieces.
Overall, I really enjoyed the show. It fixed all the problems that the first two series' had, while still retaining the epic monster battles, and the sincerity of the original that I had loved as a child. This show will make you laugh, cry, and care about the people and monsters in it. I couldn't recommend it enough :)

I really loved this anime. I loved the original version too. They're very different stories after the first few episodes so if you're planning on watching either, I'd recommend you see both.
The original Fullmetal Alchemist is much darker and quite slowly paced at times, but the characters are developed superbly, and you have sympathy for the villains which is always a good thing in my opinion :) The ending fits well with the tone of the series although a lot of people were unhappy about it, but the movie sequel helps somewhat.
Brotherhood, on the other hand, has a much more fast moving plot and

tighter storyline. The characters aren't as well developed, but there are much more characters in this series (some, like General Armstrong, are totally badass, others, like the chimeras whose names I can't remember, kinda blend into the scenery but are still kinda cool). The ending is also much happier and more satisfying in this series :)
So if you like something dark with lots of character development, watch the original. If you like a more shonen feel and a slightly tighter, more fast-paced plot, watch Brotherhood. Both are excellent animes and both are worth watching :D

At first, I was a little wary of this show. I hadn't seen much by way of racing anime before, but what I had seen had pretty much been along the lines of "adrenaline adrenaline who-cares-about-plotline-anyway adrenaline". However, it just happened to be on TV one day when there was nothing else on, so why not?
Little did I know that this would be one of my all-time favourite shows.
The characters are all really well brought to life. Every racer has it's own reasons for competing, from aiding their planet's conquest, to helping their people to rebuild, to bringing a loved one back to life. This

is what makes the story more believable: you can actually see why the race is so important to these people. Molly/Eva is a really well rounded character. She grows tremendously as a character over the course of the series. You really understand her pain, you want her to succeed. Jordan becomes much more than mister impulsive as the series goes on, and even Don Wei becomes likeable as the series progresses.
This show has some of the most amazing artwork I have seen. The character design is very different from most anime, but it works well all the same. The show mixes 2D and 3D very well, and this helps to make the races look incredible. As far as the settings go, I like the Alwas ark (it reminds me a lot of Tatooine from Star Wars :D), but it's when you get to the Oban ark that you start to see just how much work went into the show. Every race is set in vastly different and beautiful locations, from vast forests to deep canyons to oceans of pure acid! Overall, the art is as unique and beautiful as I have seen in an anime, a definite 10 :)
The music is as close to perfect as it gets. As far as openings and endings go, I don't really have any complaints with the American or Japanese OPs, but just prefer the ED, "Waratteta", over both of them. Just a matter of taste I guess :D Voice acting wise, I can't find it subbed online so I don't know what it's like in Japanese, but the English voice acting is pretty good. Molly's voice annoyed me a little at first, but it gets a lot better later on. The script can be a little stiff sometimes, but it doesn't take away from the storyline or characters so I don't mind :D
Overall, this series is really enjoyable. The races are engaging, the characters are well-rounded and likeable, and the story really pulls you in and leaves you wanting more. Fans of racing anime will like this as much as non-racing fans, a definite 10/10 :D

This is an amazingly beautifuly written manga.
The story is very simple: a girl called Saya travells in search of her fiancee who didn't return after a war he was fighting in ended, and finds that many things about him have changed. It's a simple setting, but the plot twist at the end, although sudden, is both impossible to predict and it doesn't seem out of place with the rest of the story. I'm usually wary about one-shots, but this story was really well thought through.

The characters were good. It's difficult to show a character to its full potential an a one-shot, but the two main characters were very well portrayed here. The flashbacks offer glimpses of their personalities from before and during the war, and the love that they have for each other is clear for anyone to see.
Overall, i really enjoyed this manga. It's only about 40 pages long, so it definately won't take long to read. Anyone who wants to read something along the lines of a fantasy-historical-romance, this is for you.
