LOL
Oshi no Ko is a bit overrated because if anything, it feels like just the start of something, not much happens story progression wise other then establishing the story really.
So in a sense it feels incomplete, hopefully it wont end with season 2 because then it just feels rushed rather then building up towards an epic ending.
Hikaru no Go This was my favourite anime of 2023, it had everything from strong character development to a more down to Earth plot and also plenty of thrilling moments, it starts slow but man it just keeps going and going stronger until it hits you in the face with an emotional ending thats quite frankly as well executed as it could be.
Oniichan wa Oshimai was pretty funny, its a bit perverted but at the same time its shockingly not over the top, the comedy is extremely Japanese which means its a two hit pony, you either like it, or you do not.
Oshi no Ko is probably top tier seinen anime of 2023, very strong start, gets a little slower at the end most likely because the story will proceed in season 2 which will air this year, the dialogues are extremely well written and the story is intriguing.
Vinland Saga season 2 was outstanding, this is probably my favourite of 2023, an exceptional second season to first season of Vinland Saga, its slow but it has a lot of character development.
Kimetsu no Yaiba is definitely an anime you should check out, its an excellent shounen samurai anime which does not drag on for too much, gets to the point quicker than most, excellent animation quality as expected from ufotable, has plenty of touching moments, comedic tone and serious tones.
Kaze no Youjinbou was pretty good, its a weird mystery anime that actually kind of reminded me of Higurashi because it starts off slow and takes up pacing once the mystery starts unravelling, the characters are also kinda interesting but it ends really weird.
And of course Kingdom is God tier anime, hands down, its God tier.
Other than that, 2023 was a weak year imo, mostly the sequels to anime I already seen were the strong points, but there were mostly just mediocrity, most of the good stuff I saw were anime thats already aired.
Also, I finally watched Houseki no Kuni. It was really good, I went to read the manga right after lol. Hopefully Orange will adapt the rest of it when they're done with Beastars.
Uhm, actchually Johnathan, in Japanese the vowel 'a' is not prounounced like an 'e', so the correct spelling would be SHEIMUFURU DISUPUREI ☝🤓
And you can rate something while consuming it, MAL lets you show how far you're into something so it reflects what your thoughts are at the moment. Otherwise I'd agree with you.
Houseki no Kuni is interesting, it sorts of ends on a cliff hanger probably cause they wanted to keep adapting the rest of it but still good watch I guess the CG is not that bad either it fits the art style and place it takes.
