This anime is really bad.
The studio is doing a complete shit job at adapting the webnove (?) lightnovel (?) this cringefest of a story comes from.
STORY. 3
Kid dies, completely normal for him. Here you may think he's either as emotionally mature as chuck norris is a bad actor, or he's simply a buddhist who doesn't actually give a fuck about death. Both are wrong. Nowadays authors find it easier to just "shrug off" the fact their protagonist has died in their "previous life" but everyone who is dislalic will find it alright because "it's cool, I don't mind dying either because I'm dead inside" kind
...
of audience.
He befriends god, who keeps calling him to his cell phone (like three times so far), but no, he doesn't have a friend called chocolatte.
God sends him to a new world with magic and shit and he keeps his phone and gets to have godlike powers he doesn't fully take advantage of which will frustrate people who like feeling like they're the protagonist and they think "I would've done that this or that way instead" pandering to their uneventful lives.
Then we have exposition thrown at our faces in the form of the magic system which is pretty good if I'm honest but obviously he gets all magic affinities because we need him to be op to attract tatsuya's followers.
He's the japanese "I'm lawful good passive cuck" stereotype who usually gets ntr'd in doujins which is the only thing good about these stories... the ntr doujins, just like SAO.
So far we have the usual setting.
BUT THE PHONE! yeah, no.
He barely uses it so far. Other than google maps, selfies and as a catalyst for his magic once or twice, the show doesn't live up to the "smartphone" in the title.
To be fair, the anime has like half of the story cut, so yeah... nice.
He meets arguably "cute" girls, something something, they adventure together but it has no major impact until they save the princess and he's given another girl for his harem, yay.
As the passive cuck he is, he doesn't find the balls to say "your daughter is too young for me, I like them mature" or "yes, let's marry", even when girls are thrown in his direction.
So far you must be thinking "well isn't he lucky". If you think like that, you are a sack of scum. These are 2D drawings, come on.
Truth is, nothing really happens with the girls. Not that I expected it, but the tags say harem and romance... so yeah, nothing other than "Yeah, you're cute - OMG WHAT AWAWA" which is the usual way these shits play out.
He saves the wife of the king's brother, they beat shit effortlessly because of his unlimited power and yeah, no feeling of "new world, new dangers". Neat.
Slimes are a recurrent theme for like 3 episodes, but we see them like 5 minutes for fanservice and that's it.
ART. 5
Pretty meh, neither shit nor a masterpiece when it comes to animation sequences.
BACKGROUNDS THOUGH. UGH! Japanese are getting cheaper and cheaper.
SOUND. 3
Most background music feels off and out of place, too many changes and the intermissions (if that's their name) are in the way if I'm honest.
CHARACTERS. 3
Main character is a copy paste kirito wannabe with a passive cuck personality so far, extremely engaging.
the girls are just there for "yeah, we have girls... of various sizes and personalities"... yeah, no.
They feel empty, flat, shallow, plastic, they don't feel alive (not that the mc does anyway). We know nothing of the MC other than what it's needed for showing how powerful he is and how everyone says how cool he is, because showing how op he is will never be enough, we absolutely need the cast telling us too! HOW DARE YOU SAY "SHOW DON'T TELL" IS GOOD WRITING?
*mc does something*
Audience: isn't that like pretty op for that world's standards?
cast: wow, you're op.
Mc: yeah, i'm op.... >>>>>apologizes for whatever or just awkwardly laughs it off<<<<<
author: he's op
studio: he's op
god: he's op
*they all make a toast*
They: we must be writing geniuses.
Yeah, no.
ENJOYMENT... if any. 3
it's a meh show, to wait for the other ones or just meme fuel for when the ntr doujins come out.
overall I'd give this a 4? it's a meh to bad show, nothing new, it's a recycle of the many shows of 'isekai' that exist. and it's not even well executed, I repeat, they cut like half, not like it would save the show, but many times you find yourself lost at what the fuck is going on...
This, like most light novel adaptations, is pretty meh, and it makes a terrible job at telling a story because of cut content.
I would not recommend you to watch the show.
