my friends who watched banana fish said that the amv didn't make them cry though so maybe it was just me haha. but just remembering the scenes while they played in the amv made me shed a few tears :'(

Mushishi stays the same over the entire series, in terms of quality and plot I´d say. Don´t expect a continuous plot, the histories are separated within each chapter, of course there´s some chronological sense but it will not be as important, each chapter has it´s own aura and unique history, all along with very good lessons.
A must watch if you like mature and relaxed settings.
Yes, I also had my problems attending to some events as I lived in the countryside back then, I tried my best to attend all of them! I hope you can assist to them in a future.

Well yes, you need to watch Clannad first before the Afterstory. Its called "afterstory" for a reason, its a sequel to clannad.
Yeah, some people said that you can skip clannad and just jump right to the afterstory, but i'm not recommend it and it's gonna be less impactful when you just watch the afterstory. In the Clannad, you will introduced and know more about the characters, understand more about them.
Soo yeah, if you have a time I recommend you to watch Clannad first before the afterstory one :)
