Both share a similar twist in tone at the end of the first episode, both feature horror elements and they have a similar art style
Both have a similar way of misleading the audience with a certain atmosphere only to lead to a completely different plot than what it originally seemed to advertise. Both have a good amount of tension and contrast between plot and artstyle though I highly suggest reading the manga if you want more as certain second animated second seasons have not done as well
Both shows start off light hearted with children/teens as the main characters, but they both take a "dark" turn in the first episode.
+ Both series are not what they seem like at first glimpse.
+ Both have dark themes.
+ The protagonists fight for survival in both animes.
Both have a similar misleading first episode with a twist at the end - both shows are set in a dystopian world.
