Japanese literature adapted to manga (scrictly *NOVELS/BOOKS*)
MangaSpoiler
This is a comprehensive list for all Japanese novel/literature that were adapted into a manga (specifically from this website) that i could put into a list.
List comprehends titles of all genres, ranging from mystery to romance.
Of note, The Decagon House Murders (the first instalment of Ayatsuji Yukito's famous works) was the novel that saved the mystery genre in Japan in the 1980's spawning a new wave of mystery writers and making a club called the Mystery writers of Japan. In this new wave we have Natsuhiko Kyogoku with Ubume no Natsu (also on this list) and Yusuke Kishi, famous for his work Shinsekai Yori.
All works from the writer/essayist Progect Itoh who passed away at the age of 32, who became one of the most influencial sci-fi Japanese writers of this past decade. All of his works, for the exception of his famous Metal Gear Solid novels have been adapted both into manga and animation (this ofc is only a novel to manga list)
