Note 1: Season 1 of each series should represent the entire series. Thus, subsequent seasons will not appear unless there is something worth mentioning of a particular season. In most cases, two animes are of the same series if they have the same primary title. If I don't find Season 1 to be enjoyable, then I might use a subsequent season for the entry.

Note 2: This is NOT a ranking.

Note 3: We shall stay within certain categories of anime. In particular, an anime whose op and ed are the only songs shall not appear in this list. This is mainly to avoid making this list too long.

Note 4: I'm sure I missed a lot of good entries. That's mostly my fault, because, while I do watch some idol-ish anime from time to time, it is never my main genre when looking for a show to spend my time.

Note 5: This list is subject to inconsistent update as I recall more candidate in the future.
Pretty Rhythm: Aurora Dream
TV, 2011, 51 eps Me:- Author:9
This anime always has a special place in my heart (and partly motivates me making this list when its music somehow resurface on my YouTube feed). I'm pretty sure it is my first idol/music anime ever watched, back when I was still a child. Although it is targeted to the female audiene, I think it is perfectly fine for any gender. The proper fashion element in this anime is very minimal that everyone should find it enjoyable.

One thing I don't like in most music show nowadays is that they tend to use each music only once (apart from op's). My experience tells me that it is very rare to like a song by just listening once; it takes time for your brain to click. But given 51 eps of this show, the number of songs in it is actually not that impressive, and you can fall in love with most of them through repetitions as you go along. And some of the song is somehow more enjoyable alongside with their 3DCG dance. (But take it with a grain of salt, because I might be bias to this show.)
Pretty Rhythm: Dear My Future
TV, 2012, 51 eps Me:- Author:6
Don't make me wrong, as a sequel of the previous entry, it does have good music. But compare to S1, they added too many new elements to the plot (to the extent that I think it is a bit out-of-control). Not to mention that it now has a proper antigonist in the middle of the anime. For the first time ever, they also chose to not use the voice actor for some number of the music. (The reality is actually backward, but let me igonre that technicality for now.)
K-On!
TV, 2009, 13 eps Me:- Author:8
This is one of the first show that come into my mind when I decided to make this list. Defying the law I mentioned above, most musics in this series clicks in my mind after just going through it the first time. I wonder why.
Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight
TV, 2018, 12 eps Me:- Author:8
I wonder: am I watching an idol show, a music show, or a fighting show? It somehow give me a vibe of Danganronpa (but way more age appropriate I guess).
Paripi Koumei

The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls

Tenshi no 3P!

Re:Stage! Dream Days♪

Love Live! School Idol Project
TV, 2013, 13 eps Me:- Author:8
This is way too classic nowadays and so I will only put this as the last entry. (This entry shall serve as entries for all 4 generations, as of Summer 2024, of the megaseries.)
