This is just my own take on the "Anime for Beginners" discourse. These are the shows that I've recommended to people who wanted to get into anime or just think they're "Those weird Asian cartoons", with great results! Explanations/Justifications for each one as well. <3 Even long time fans can use this as a recommendation guide for their watchlist!
Kimetsu no Yaiba
TV, 2019, 26 eps Me:- Author:8
Jujutsu Kaisen
TV, 2020, 24 eps Me:- Author:-
New gen favorites, I'm legally obligated to mention these. This + Demon Slayer are hyped because of their great animation and lovable characters.
Jigokuraku
TV, 2023, 13 eps Me:- Author:8
Best written out of all 3 of the new gens, yet the most underrated! Definitely the one I would say is "for the girls"
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
TV, 2009, 64 eps Me:- Author:10
Now we are getting into the really good stuff. Often compared to ATLA, and who doesn't love ATLA?
Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3
TV, 2018, 12 eps Me:- Author:9
The GOT of anime (also using the S3 poster cause I like it the best) Megan thee Stallion stans Mikasa so that's all you need to know

You've probably seen Killua pfps all over Pinterest/Twitter... this is the show he's from, you're welcome!
JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 5: Ougon no Kaze

Revy is THEE baddest bitch in anime period
Michiko to Hatchin
TV, 2008, 22 eps Me:- Author:10
You've seen Michiko before. You HAVE seen her before. Whether it's on Pinterest, or as someone's PFP, or on a moodboard, you've seen this girl. This is the show she comes from, and it's SOOOO GOOD. Michiko is lowkey one of the most popular anime girlies off of face card alone and yet no one talks about the show itself, even though it's really good.
Cowboy Bebop
TV, 1998, 26 eps Me:- Author:10
Also has one of the baddest anime bitches (Faye)
Gangsta.
TV, 2015, 12 eps Me:- Author:9
Watch these 2 fine ass men commit crimes, the end will have you saying "Where the next season at tho?" Also has one of the most beautiful anime girlies (Alex)
Peach Girl
TV, 2005, 25 eps Me:- Author:10
Kinda the Euphoria of anime IN THE SENSE THAT it tackles real topics (growing up as a black girl in 2000s Japan) but the way it's done is a bit questionable and lowkey people only watch it for the aesthetics... butttt if you want a messy HBO type romance this show is for you.
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon R
TV, 1993, 43 eps Me:- Author:-
SPEAKING of "just watched for aesthetics", people need to sit down and watch Sailor Moon to see the topics it deals with. It's beautiful. Usagi is also hella relatable.
InuYasha: Kanketsu-hen
TV, 2009, 26 eps Me:- Author:10
Another "watched for the aesthetics but is actually a masterpiece". The slow burn annoyance to lovers arc is so good and the love triangles??? Yall are gonna be screaming at the TV
Nana
TV, 2006, 47 eps Me:- Author:10
If you want a messy HBO type romance but a bit more serious, Nana is for you.
Beck
TV, 2004, 26 eps Me:- Author:10
A music series just like Nana, but focuses less on drama and more on music.
Shoujo Kakumei Utena
TV, 1997, 39 eps Me:- Author:10
This show served as inspiration for childhood cartoons such as Steven Universe and Star vs The Forces of Evil (Inuyasha also helped inspire SVTFOE). This series is SOOOO good, also try and watch while you're high.
Chihayafuru
TV, 2011, 25 eps Me:- Author:10
Best anime sports drama <3
Vanitas no Karte Part 2
TV, 2022, 12 eps Me:- Author:9
You will not know who to ship, everybody has tension!
Fairy Tail (2014)
TV, 2014, 102 eps Me:- Author:10
This is for all my girls who grew up watching Winx Club and shii <<33 You might be thinking "Oh but my cousin said Fairy tail is bad" Growing up is realizing that a lot of these Shonen fans are jealous that their show doesn't have a fine ass friend group going on adventures, heartwarming romance, and fine ass women AND men that are all well written. Lucy and Erza will forever be the baddest shonen girls!
Samurai Champloo
TV, 2004, 26 eps Me:- Author:10
Another fine ass friend group going on adventures
Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
TV, 2012, 25 eps Me:- Author:10
The true ATLA of anime, in terms of story + character similarities
Soul Eater
TV, 2008, 51 eps Me:- Author:10
I recommend this show to everyone I meet, even those who hate anime (I just tell them it's an obscure Adult Swim show from the 2000s) This series is SO FUCKING COOL from the animation to the characters to the fashion to the weapons. Best supernatural anime I love youuuu
Noragami Aragoto
TV, 2015, 13 eps Me:- Author:-
Another amazing supernatural anime. The premise is pretty similar to Inuyasha, so if you're not quite ready to dive into 200 eps of that show, this could satisfy you in the meantime. The ending will have you asking "Where's the next season though?"
Akatsuki no Yona
TV, 2014, 24 eps Me:- Author:10
Another "Yo when's the next season" anime. The romance in this show is soooo good and watching Yona go from 0 to hero is so inspiring. You'll get attached to almost every character.
Fruits Basket 1st Season

Another juicy romance. This show will make you laugh, cry, scream, all over the span of just 3 amazing seasons.

TV, 2016, 22 eps Me:- Author:10
Another rollercoaster ride of emotions
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt
TV, 2010, 13 eps Me:- Author:10
This for the Rick and Morty/South Park/Smiling Friends/The Boondocks/Total Drama enjoyers, even tho Panty + Stocking is better than all of them (except Boondocks). Don't fw those shows? You probably won't fw this
Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan
TV, 2016, 120 eps Me:- Author:10
That's so Raven, if Raven was a asexual autistic non binary baddie
Ouran Koukou Host Club

More non binary baddie fun
Kamisama Hajimemashita
TV, 2012, 13 eps Me:- Author:-
The 3rd member of the "Taking Care of a Fine Ass Yokai" trinity that is Noragami, Inuyasha, and KK, but KK focuses more on the comedy.
Elfen Lied
TV, 2004, 13 eps Me:- Author:-
Inspired the show "Stranger Things" as stated by the creators themselves. Watching it, you will totally see the parallels between Lucy and Eleven

Kill la Kill

(I couldn't fit it in this stack but if you enjoy this show, watch Gurren Laggan too!!)
Naruto: Shippuuden
TV, 2007, 500 eps Me:- Author:9
Now after all this, you might be wondering, "Okay but do I have to watch Naruto tho???"

You don't have to, but you SHOULD because it's a really good show! It will be worth your time. The same logic applies to One Piece btw.
