Bard is obviously the most talented one. Being able to shoot 4 bullets before cocking again(with a bolt action rifle). He is definitely one of my favorites now, haha. The maid had an awesome past though, I definitely appreciate her more.

It was not the best of the episodes but it was the most adorable one, especially that smile of Ciel's at the end at the sight of the trio bouncing away happily.
And ofcourse, Sebby's as hot as ever. And Tanaka funny as hell. And I like Maylene even more now.

I like how everyone keeps whining, "OMG THIS ANIME F***ING SUCKS COMPARED TO THE MANGA!! OMGWTFBBQ!!??11!?" despite the fact that the average rating on MAL for this show is so high. *sighs* Nothing is more annoying than these professional whiners.

It was a nice episode; it's been awhile since we've had a comedy episode in the series, so I welcomed the change. Also, I'm amazed people didn't realize Tamura Yukari voiced Elizabeth; I recognized her voice almost instantly. I wasn't thinking about Rika, though; I was thinking about Nanoha.

Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.

This episode wasn't pointless though.
It was also showing that those business guys (XD) are still trying to get rid of Ciel.

I just love how Sebby was playing the violin to cover up all the noise that was going on outside < 3

Oh my, I am speechless. This episode was lovely. I just loved how all of the Phantomhive employees worked together to drive off the bad guys. Man, Phantomhive is a one strong househould.

I didn't know the maids of Phantomhive all had a past, and powers aswell, lmao. I see, they're all special. Loved how Sebastian recruited them all although I'm wondering why Sebastian left the Black King and the White Queen on the chess board. I wonder what he is foreshadowing.

Also, it's good to see that they accomplished their mission. To see Ciel smile. Although it wasn't a true smile of happiness, it was still a smile. :D Plus, Elizabeth is really a cute character. She's the right girl for Ciel. :3

I didn't find this episode useless at all! I think it was foreshadowing a sad ending, that's the feeling I got from it! I only wish that we would have more episodes like this! But I know I only have 3 more episodes until Kuro is over! :( I'm reluctant to watch it cause I know I'll be very very sad the moment it ends, thought I'm glad I have the manga to read at least! :)
Loved it how everyone fought together and how Ciel smiled at the end, it was portrayed beautifully, a sad but also so long missing from his face smile. I'm glad he could smile like that even if I feel now the ending won't be good.. :/

Pfft. The beginning was such a shock O.O WHO KNEW?
Anyway I caught on when I heard her voice get a crack in the clock tower. Never knew she was an assasain. .-. Her eyes are SO PRETTY.
Loved their pasts, but actually wanted to no more about it.It only tells you how they got hired )= Anyway found out the maid isn't so clumsy in her footwork. Also why that dude is so strong. .-. Also found out what they do off camera xD Anyways great episode.

just so everybody knows I did not read the manga....
-------------------------------------------------------------

I thought this episode was too jarring...
It felt as if the director ran out of ideas, so he made them all have some random abnormal background, with absolutely no hint in the earlier episodes... (I thought the little guy's abnormal strength was some kind of joke)

The episode basically told me this:
Hey you know those comic relief characters from the episodes before??
Well bard'sasupershooterfiniganissuperhumanandmeirinisasniper.

It may be a pointless episode to the plot, but I enjoyed it a lot.
The servant’s background was a nice addition to show, it could've been better, not seeming so random and scattered, but it wasn’t bad.

At first, I though Maylene’s past was some kind of joke. I couldn’t believe it, of all things, a sniper?! God, the producers ran out of ideas. Still, she’s got her badass moments. Finnian was pretty obvious from the start as it was hinted quite a few times. And Bard being a soldier...

Overall, a very enjoyable episode. Three more episodes until the end...
I think, then procrastinate.
Therefore, I am.

Awwwww darn it - I just said that fillers were gone :/
But, oh well! I loved it anyways. It was amazing to see their pasts finally. I knew right off the bat back in the beginning that Finny was the result of some medical experiments. I didn't expect that Meirin was an assassin though. Which is pretty badass indeed. And, with his love of firearms I expected Bard to be a soldier. And, I was right again. So, yeah. But, still an enjoyable episode nonetheless. Oh - and Sebastian got better in my eyes by so many points because he took people who were hurting/doing poorly and made them servants at the estate. How cool :3

Amazing episode! I totally wasn't expecting the servants' backgrounds. Well, except for Finny. That one was pretty obvious as it had already been hinted. But Meirin? I wasn't expecting that at all! Though I had been wondering why they're so useless as servants, always wrecking the house...

And seeing Ciel's smile at the end was pleasant. I mean, it wasn't that much of a smile but at least they got something^^

Episode 1

Episode 21

(Also, I don't want this show to end in three episodes. I'm hoping for a second season.)

The mother's hair color also changes--in the first episode is was black (look at the family portrait and flashback) and in every other instance her hair is blond-continuity is not their forte mayhaps? :)

Anywho, it did feel a bit like filler but I really liked the backstory and the episode, although I do agree that airing it a bit earlier would've cleared things up more/ given them the opportunity to be of help earlier in the series... I've been waiting for a while for an explanation as to why those 3 continued to hold jobs after such a long time, and I liked how they actually did have their own talents and how they were adopted into the Phantomhive household. Also it was nice to finally see what happened to Lizzie after the doll arc.

I was also wondering about that. I don't think she's wearing contacts because that isn't really necessary. Unless her brown eyes are contacts and she has naturally blue eyes? Which would account for why she wears glasses generally and take them off when she's sniping? I'm not sure.

I think she mentions in one of the early episodes that she is far-sighted, and she can see well far away but needs the glasses to see close up (I remembered that detail because I'm far-sighted lol). I doubt she had contacts - I am guessing artists just forgot her eye color.

Personally, I don't mind fillers. I know a lot of people complain about them (especially for Naruto, LOL) but I'm always just happy whenever there's an episode out ^.^ That's just me, though. Hehe C:

I always KNEW Meirin had beautiful eyes. How can you not tell by this point as an otaku? Hahaha. Characters with thick bottlecap glasses always have the most fantastic eyes underneath. Plus, back when the Phantomhive servants went to the lake resort and Meirin went to take a dip with the boys, I was like dayums, girl. Dat sexy body. I'm so jelly. Bet without your glasses, you'd be a super bomb lookin' anime chick! Haha XD

Kawaisou Finny-chan <3333 He was like Rapunzel stuck in a tower but with a twist D:
and Bard's first reluctant smile was HILARIOUSSSS! XDDD I think he looks hotter as a chef than with his battle uniform ;P keke~

Glad they got a smile out of Ciel! Their ridiculousness made me laugh as well X]

I loved this episode. Totally satisfied :D On to the next! Teheh -^__^-

The back stories on the servants were interesting, especially Mey-rin's. The symbolism throughout the chess tutorial with Elizabeth was great as well, the fallen knight representing Aberlin. For the most part, this series has felt very uneventful and so-so for me but this side story wasn't so bad.

This was a terrible episode. What was it really supposed to do in the grand scope of things? Show how big an asshole Ciel is? We already knew about Finnian, and could pretty much guess something similar about the other two, but does Ciel even know? This episode would have made more sense had it been aired earlier, but this late into the show makes it seem so extraneous. I just totally didn't get the point at all.

I agree that the episode could be described as a filler episode with almost no points regarding the grand plot that is to come, but it was still a good episode. I like these episodes since they focus a bit more on the characters surrounding the main protoganist (they are actually interesting and non generic). This could have been aired sooner though I agree.

You're still pissed about that huh? I for one haven't read the manga so I don't really care..
This episode is probably one of my personal favorites so far. I don't see why you think it was stupid? A stupid episode would be the episode with the two princes followed by the indian guy and a retarded curry contest. THOSE were stupid, this was not.

Well, it was obvious that that bunch of fellow weren't normal. I always wondered why such bad servant was as his service, I thought it was maybe a familly thing.

I liked this episode, it was interresting to know more about these character that have been following him since the beginning of the anime.

I liked the symbolism when Sebastian putted the King and the Queen on the chessboard, there will be a fight between the two, or more precisely between the angel/Queen butler.

Also, the highlight of the episode, Ciel smiled for a reason other than having crafted a devilish plan! xD

Mey-rin's past was interesting. As well as her ability to defend the estate:

The servants suck as servants. At least they are nice people and OP in combat.

Is Finny kinda girly?

Heh.

And of course, the first "real" smile from Ciel.
