| Almost forgot about Conan's glasses. He hasn't used the tracking device in a while either. Good to see the detective boys showing some initiative and deduction skill. If or when Conan goes back to being Shinichi permanently, I hope they don't take their sleuthing too far though. Speaking of the future, it'd be nice to see how they turn out. Perhaps they can be the Reiwa Sherlock Holmes Trio. Looks like we got another break. And the next episode looks so interesting, too. あの鳥の『ただいま』は面白かったWWW。次は面白そう。 |

| I can't be the only one who figured everything out near the half of the episode. Author panicking on deadlines. Lost Bird. Process of elimination, it has to be the 3rd person. Next episode seems to be an interesting arc. |
| These kids need to die. I'm sorry walking in on a police stakeout, then interfereing with the case like that? They are GROUNDED FOR LIFE AND THE COPS SHOULD BE FIRED FOR ALLOWING THEM TO BE PUT IN DANGER LIKE THAT!!!! Oh if only I was their parents, they would never be allowed out again. My god they keep getting worse. |

| This filler episode is an umpteenth example of the staff being completely incompetent when it comes down to properly writing the Detective Boys into a case: they should never have been allowed to participate in this stakeout (Takagi and Chiba certainly put their jobs on the line), nor should they have been allowed to get out of the flat. That had to be one of the dumbest examples of them poking their noses into somebody's dangerous business. In that context, I understand that people find them annoying (and they are), but we should all bear in mind that they are not THAT annoying in the manga, nor are they THAT 'happy-go-lucky' in canonical narratives. Aoyama stoppped making them that bad ages ago - yet, the script writing team still fails to catch that 'not-so-subtle' nuance I suppose. As far as the writing of the actual case is concerned however, I thought this filler episode was 'okay'. Not 'good' mind you, I would still argue that the whole set-up was still fairly mediocre overall - yet, compared to all the anime original cases we have had this year, I guess this one shone the brightest. What worked quite well here was the subversion (or at least 'kind of') narrative of the 'three-suspect formula': considering the 'stakeout' premise, it was not about listening to what the suspects had to say, but rather carefully observing their movements. As a result, seeing the story unfold felt a bit 'smoother' than usual. It certainly made for a nice - albeit too obvious in regard to the case to solve - change of pace. I would love to see Aoyama trying out this formula in the (near) future. In the hands of a skilled writer, this premise could make for a fun detective narrative to read / sit through. |

| This (and all other episodes featuring the DB's in a nutshell): The Detective Boys would have died long ago if it wasn't for Conan... There are worse DB episodes than this (I remember one vividly, it felt like either I or the writers were on drugs :S). This one was alright, I guess. Although cases with the DB's are only really good when Ai is involved. This one was very predictable and I can't believe Conan fell for their trick and let them leave... He should know them by now! The part with the deadline was sooo obvious (probably even for people who don't work as writers). But I like the side plot with the bird ♥ Plus why is the police still so helpless when it comes to these kids? |

| I feel bad for inspector chiba who got hurt while trying to protect that piece of shit of a brat who doesn't learned a single lesson and still try to get involved in dangerous situations just to throw a bitchy crying later when things gets worse and the cycle goes so on for the detective boys and their genuine dogshit character writing........... |
| Missed opportunity to have the returning bird save the falling Ayumi instead of Chiba. Would it have made sense? No, but this episode was already silly so why not? XD |
