So, an anime you stumbled across randomly and ended up liking it a lot. Do you have any? Share your story. :) I guess I could mention plenty, but the most recent case happened a couple of weeks ago when I accidentally ended up watching PriPri Chii-chan!! It was surprisingly funny show, after all. |

I have several series I enjoyed the anime so much that I even checked up the source material, but many doesn't have it physically released in English. That's racism against anti-digital people. I once send them an email asking why they can't release some of their stuff in physical form, which they have done on so many shitty series. They told me that they need the sales on digital to go up enough to consider releasing a physical version. They also said that in order to that to happen, I should just buy the digital version of the ones I want so it gets a chance to get released in a physical form. Then I can buy the physical form. Such discrimination that it's just stupid. But Overlord, was probably the first series which sucked me so hard that I bought the released light novels, the manga and even the spin offs. So worth it. I've also re watched the anime and re-read the best arc in the light novel a few times. |

I discovered You're under arrest completely accidentally (I was looking into OVAs from the era and it came up, I also found out it was written by the Oh my Goddess guy which is a series I found very funny). I ended up watching a combined total of 100 episodes of the franchise. |

I guess it was Monogatari few years ago? First I watched some AMV with footage from Kizumonogatari movies, so I watched them - then I saw that the movies are actually a prequel to Bakemonogatari so I watched it too, then I learned that there was even more to it and the cycle continued until I watched everything from the series... years later a sequel came on and I need to rewatch the whole thing, yay :D [I believe in Kaiki and Episode supremacy] |

Natsu no arashi anime it was like finding a vintage Rolex. It's packed with comedy summer adventures, supernatural shenanigans and ghostly tomfoolery and enough relatable childhood nostalgia to make my heart skip a beat. Colourful characters, The time-travel twists. And the cozy Cafe atmosphere.. Itโs like that perfect cup of iced coffee on a scorching summer dayโ followed by the refreshing evening rainstorm and oh-so-satisfying. |

Also Omamori Himari was like stumbling upon a little secret garden of ecchi filled with youkai fantasy, and a dash of harem romance. the feisty kawaii cat spirit Himari, whoโs not only a total badass but Himariโour fierce, alluring cat spirit also got the moves to make anyone's heart race. And then there's baka-dono Yuto, thrown into this whirlwind of youkai madness, completely unaware of the wild ride he's about to experience. It's a mix of ayakashi magic, mystery, and a ecchi harem that keeps you hooked. |

Strawberry Marshmallow, Azumanga Daioh, Locodol, Girls und Panzer, Girls Beyond the Wasteland, Flying Witch, Bakuon, Ladies vs. Butlers, Bodacious Space Pirates - 8 seemingly random anime, right? Well back in 2016, my family switched cable providers and we got access to a new on demand channel called "The Anime Network", i had grown up liking anime when i was little but never really sought it out. I didn't know where to start and barely new anything of the medium, so on this new channel, i decided to jut check out everything and every week when new anime came out, i'd download them all. These were the series i was most excited to watch every week. These are the series that turned me into an anime fan and made me want more. Mayo Chiki and Kiss Him Not Me were 2 anime i watched because of the YouTube algorithm, i don't get recommended them anymore, but i used to get recommended anime every episode in one video compilations. Please Teacher - i rag on it a lot, but it's still special to me. I loved the opening and binge watched the whole thing in one night. I was looking up tv tropes and found the page for student/teacher romance (I have a thing for older women), i saw it as the cover for the page and that it was for free on YouTube (In very high quality AND an official upload!) |

Hmm a lot actually but one of the most random ones I picked up for no apparent reason at all was probably Ex-Atm, which I dropped after three episodes and then just read the manga. I would also like to add Gleipnir and Tomodachi Game, as well as Id Invaded and a bunch more. Most anime I watch were picked up solely because it sounded interesting |

The first anime I stumbled upon was when I randomly decided to watch Food Wars on Netflix. Had no idea what it was about and had only seen Death Note and Attack On Titan before then. Food Wars is still one of my favorites. The second I found because I kept seeing this gif everywhere: I looked up the anime it was from, discovering Owarekake no Orgel. And then following MAL recommendations from that, I discovered Chobits, which I frickin loved. |

a few years ago i was looking for an anime with 3 or 4 seasons, or had 36+ episodes cause i wanted to do a full day binge...ended up stumbled across Spice and Wolf...saw it had 2, 24 episode seasons and figured screw it, why not...got hooked on that anime instantly. OST was a perfect fit, characters are extremely well written, their interactions with eachother are great, and im really glad i reached out of my normal genres and gave it a shot. and thinking about it now...i just realized i never watched the remake...so thats gonna be my next watch |

I wouldn't say any anime in my list was "accidental" -- I actively and intentionally watched everything. But that said, closest I got is Initial D, it was a surprise hit for me and I couldn't put it down until I saw every season, was totally addicted, and I initially expected to watch it alongside other anime, but nope, that's all I watched for awhile. |

The Love Live! franchise. ayyy, nice sig ;) I wanted to play a rhythm game years back and download SIP. A few minutes in I had the feeling that I was missing a lot of content regarding the characters and thought there might be some "supplemental" material out there, and found out there was an anime. I decided I might as well give it a try, as that would make the game more interesting (and properly pick a best girl). And yeah I've been consistently following Love Live! since, even if I think it's "objectively" pretty trash lol |

Medalist I saw someone on discord talking about it. I thought it was just another moe cgdct fan but the opening threw me off, i was laughing my ass off about a figure skating anime that involves children having a shonen pace. This has parallels to Naruto and it even has a powerscaling dialogue. Hikaru is basically Gojo Satoru with how many of the characters revolve their lives around beating her. the first episode hooked me in with its comedy and realistic conflict and drama, it's a child pursuing a talent she's not supposed to with a coach that regrets the life path he took. together they overcome adversities together. and the 3D skating sequences just hooked me in, it was enough that the 3D wasn't jarringly bad or misused but they even elevated 1 manga panel of hikaru skating into 2 minutes to emphasize how good she is. plus medalist isn't on Crunchyroll so the typesetting on the subtitles are non-existent and the fansubs kinda fixes a lot of the on-screen text and gives me more reasons to rewatch previous episodes. I'm using this as a case for the streaming market's problem of localizing and distribution of anime that is regressive to the development and mainstream rise of the anime industry. |

Serafos said: So, an anime you stumbled across randomly and ended up liking it a lot. Do you have any? Share your story. :) Back in the late 90s there was a comic book shop I found near the college I was attending at the time. The place would often sell other things besides comic books such as Toys, model kits, and even western Cartoons and Japanese Anime on VHS. In the far corner of their VHS selection, I saw they were selling even Japanese imports where I saw the 1st episode of the "Agent AIKa" OVA being sold. So I bought it not knowing a thing about it at the time. Much to my surprise I had no clue what I was about to get into when viewing it with a good buddy of mine for the 1st time. While my friend didn't understand Nihongo, I did. But it didn't stop either my friend or myself from laughing hysterically by the blatant obnoxious amounts of gratuitous panty shots being thrown on the screen. I will never forget the 1st action scene of the Anime when I was drinking a can of soda and started laughing so hard it was coming out of my nose. I was so sucked into this Anime I ended up sharing this Anime with a bunch of guys in my school dorm in the common room and even special ordered the rest of the original 1st 4 episode of this OVA on Japanese VHS at the same comic book shop (The last 3 episodes were never released on VHS and only on Japanese Laserdisc at the time). Eventually I did manage to collect the entire OVA on both limited edition Japanese Laserdisc collections and even the limited edition release of the OVA series on DVDs over time in the early 2000s on both Western Domestic and Japanese import. I was so suck into this franchise, that when I read in "Newtype" magazine back in the very early 2000s that the creator of the AIka OVA was going to be producing a full blow Anime series, I was stoked. Eventually "Najica Blitz Tactics" got released in the West in the early 2000s, and bought the 1st Volume on DVD at Suncoast video at the mall. I ended up loving it so much I just went ahead and just special ordered two months in advance at Suncoast for the entire limited edition Collectors box set released by ADV Films once all volumes were finally officially released in the West. Which was one of the very 1st full blown Anime series I ever bought on DVD volumes, finally moving away from ever buying New Anime on VHS ever again. |

Ah the good ol' days of blindly finding an anime to watch...๐ I guess the most clear memory I had was Tamayura Hitotose. I used to watch some videos from a random user on Youtube back in 2010s, who used to compile and rank his favourite 50 OP/ED songs from certain seasons of certain years. I watched one of the 2011 OP rankings. Most of them were action stuff, but then all of a sudden, I saw and heard the OP song for Tamayura Hitotose, sang by Maaya Sakamoto. I was very intrigued by both the scenes in the opening and the song itself. This was back in the days when I never knew Slice of Life genre existed in anime. As an Asian grew up in an Asian country, a live action slice of life stuff was very common (though mostly dealing with conflict and lives as adults, sometimes romance etc.), so I was very surprised to see that the SoL genre can be transferred into the anime medium. This made me checking out the entire Tamayura franchise and I must say...I loved it from start to finish! This franchise literally opened more doors for me in anime as a whole, especially Iyashikei theme within the SoL genre. I ended up watching more SoL anime such as Aria, Yuru Camp, Yama no Susume, Toradora, Sketchbook Full Color's, Haruhi Suzumiya, Ika Musume and many more. I was surprised to find out that I loved SoL genre even though I always thought I prefer action more than anything else. |

If you don't count the anime of my childhood, when I didn't even know what anime was, I would say AIR. I accidentally came across an article about it on Wikipedia and decided to watch it because I vaguely thought I had watched it a long time ago. In the end, the show itself and its ending had such a huge impact on me that I still consider it one of my favorite anime. Also Mahouka, which I learned about completely by accident when I saw this title on an ancient Russian site with a fan translation of LN. |

86 I was looking for something to watch while I have my breakfast and it was there on crunchyroll. I read the description and it looked so generic and easy to guest how it was going to end I just put the first episode planing to just cut it when I finished eating. I was so wrong, and I loved it. Oh, most of them actually. LOL. A real recent title for me would be Ramen Akaneko. It flew under lots of radars, and I wasn't convinced at first, as it comes from a relatively unknown studio, but it kept getting better and better each week. I was extremely happy to learn very recently that there will be a 2nd season coming out soon. I'm so looking forward to it. |

I remember seeing a lot of Blend S on YouTube during its weekly release and hopping on the hype train. It was my first ever slice-of-life anime, and I really thought the concept of the genre was hilarious and cute; then proceeded to watch more of the genre (from 2017 to 2019). I watched a TikTok clip of Saiki and how funny it was on dubbed. I then watched All Seasons on TikTok since each episode is only 5 minutes long, so that's like 1 TikTok video per episode. |

Girls Und Panzer. I didn't think of it much when I saw the cover, but the synopsis was interesting and I'm always interested in the weird/whacky. Got into it as a WW2 fan, but now I am a GuP fan. The Fights, the music, and the hilarious tank physics made me a fan. Cute Girls Doing Cool Things should be the norm. |
