A deep, thrilling conspiracy. Has one of my favorite Antagonists in the medium, with the entire story having brilliant theming around the importance of symbols. Some parts of the story are slow, as well as plot developments I'm really not a fan of make it a bit lower than I wish. Still great.

a lot of layers to this one. I'd say this is the most consistent part of baki, and following the roller coaster of a character that is miyamoto musashi is such a treat.

has some really great moments and fights, but it doesn't really build up to anything. the Jack moments were genuinely phenomenal, and I can't wait to see his character in Rahen.

Might just be the most enjoyable manga out there. I could read 20 volumes in a day and not get bored. I thought each arc was really interesting, and the new characters introduced in this part were really fun.

Sadly hasn't aged well for me. I love Eiji a lot though!

Coming off of what is possibly the greatest, most ambitious first manga with Usogui, I expected a bit more from Sako Toshio. The art is pretty amazing and the fight choreography is fantastic, but some of the story and how it plays out is super disappointing when looking at how Usogui's story flows. It's still really good and has some really beautiful moments but I just can't say I love it. I think it has a lot of soul though, and you can see just how passionate the author is about capoeira.

Tite Kubo's finest work. Constantly oozes with style, and has some of the best presentation in the medium. While I'm not the biggest fan of some of the story choices, it's constantly fun, thought provoking and poetic.

My hottest take is that Dragon Ball is better before "Z". I prefer adventure stories overall to fighting ones, which Z takes a huge priority over. Toriyama's paneling flows really well and set a benchmark for the medium. It's just not my type of story sadly.

wow that final fight was incredible. a perfect culmination of not only this part, but baki as a whole up to this point. all the call backs and concepts laid out through this part came together perfectly. the art and imagery in the fight was just stunning. yujiro and baki dynamic is one for the ages. i love this series so much

Togashi I kneel. Sets the foundation of Kurapika's backstory, and is an essential reading for any Hunter x Hunter fan.

Peak ending, didn't like the other 90% of the story sadly.

Fixes my main complaints with the first 6 parts with a more ambitious plot, well developed side antagonists and some of the most complex ideas JoJo's has. Johnny and Gyro's dynamic really make this journey come together, creating what is in my opinion, JoJo's at its best.

Learning that Part 8 would take inspiration from my favorite part of the original 6 made me extremely hyped. I had pretty high expectations going in but Araki greatly surpassed them. It has the charm of Morioh, a great side cast and arguably the most complex and interesting JoJo. The stands are also super creative!

what a rollercoaster of a series. has such a consistently good, fun and endearing cast of characters. everyone is so efficient and fits their role perfectly (for the most part). i personally loved the shibuya - shinjuku stretch, and that final gauntlet was amazing. the ending was a bit strange and felt rushed, but overall this will go down as one of my favorite shounen in recent memory.

Establishes the core themes of JJK surprisingly well. Not the most mind-blowing material but it's essential to the story.

there's a lot about this story i didn't quite comprehend, especially since i read this over the course of a few months, but man this has some beautiful art and story telling. the way ruka's character and dreams tie into many aspects of the story is incredible, and the final volume is genuinely breathtaking with all of it's art and reveals. also very matsumoto-esque in it's format and art. i'll reread this someday and hopefully be able to understand it more

"I'm always prepared to put my life on the line when I bullshit." Togashi's lesser known work, sandwiched between his two shounen hits Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter, is one of the funniest and charming manga I've read. Each chapter is unique, and has some very experimental art from Togashi. Would recommend to a fan of either of those series for sure!!

reading those first few color pages hit me with so much nostalgia. overall a pretty great one shot, does a lot for just one chapter.

Matsumoto's greatest. A truly insane, complex and sometimes incomprehensible work that feels like avant-garde jazz in manga form. Mike Ford Davis is a one of a kind character, and like with any manga by Matsumoto the art is stunning.

I hated reading this, but I can appreciate the artistic value it has to offer.

Not sure how to feel about it. It for sure has beautiful art, and some really unique pages that are nothing like I've seen in the medium. However the story didn't really make sense to me, so I'll have to revisit it one day.

Fun little spin off series.

Nisio Isin is one of my favorite writers, and seeing his perspective on what it means to be one is pretty cool.

Insane art progression. You really can see Inoue grow as an artist and story teller from the beginning of this series to it's masterful final game.

Junsuke is the greatest character in the history of fiction. Seriously though this series solidified Taiyou Matsumoto as one of my favorite creators in the manga industry. His characters all feel so real and human, and he is so proficient in making a story emotionally impactful. Sunny is able to go from a happy SoL manga to a tragic story about these kids seamlessly. Art was great too, might not be everyone's style but it works so well with the story.

I love Ai Yazawa's style and it evolves so much over the course of this manga. The characters are all so cool, and the dynamic between the main four are so fun.

Short but impactful.

Has one of my favorite protagonist duos and side casts. The story can get really exposition heavy with all of the politics and military talk, but when TWIM shines it truly has some of the best content in the manga medium. The art starts out a bit rough, but it improves every chapter and eventually becomes one of my favorite styles. The ending is great too!

there's some amazing moments in this, but a lot I wasn't super fond of as well. Art was good, I think this is the first shoujo I've read so seeing art like this was cool!!! The ending had some good elements, but could have heavily benefited from an extra few chapters fleshing it out.

Masterpiece. A perfect blend of martial arts, mind games, and the gambling that comes with both. I genuinely can't understate how great this manga is, and while it might seem just fine at first, the art and story telling exponentially improves every arc. The final arc might be my favorite arc in fiction!!!

Fun short story collection by Oda. I was a big fan of the second, fourth and fifth one. Reading the Romance Dawn one-shot was so strange, cause while it felt like One Piece, the tiny differences made it jarring lmao. Would recommend this to any One Piece/Oda fan!!

"The flower blooms on the ring... alone." One of my favorite depictions of the loneliness that comes with being the strongest along with Netero, Gojo and Dragon. It does so much in two volumes.
