This manga delivers an intense and fascinating story, but what truly captivated me was not the protagonist—it was the antagonist. The final part of the story was masterfully executed, and the antagonist's character had a depth that was both unexpected and mesmerizing.
One of the most striking moments was how she represented her true self in the birdcage. The symbolism of that scene—being alone with herself in the cage, facing her own reality—was profound. It wasn't just a confrontation with the protagonist, but a confrontation with her own existence. When she said she liked her, but not in the expected way, it unraveled into something even
...
more intriguing. Her love wasn't directed outward—it was a love for herself, an acceptance that transcended the typical villainous narrative.
The plot twist surrounding the letters she delivered was another highlight. Rather than acting out of malice, she was helping others overcome their struggles, just as seen with the letter to the queen. This revelation added a whole new layer to her character, making her more than just an antagonist—she was a force of change. It’s rare to see such an approach in a story like this, and it easily became one of my favorite twists so far.
The final scenes were particularly powerful. "Too bad, but I have to go now. You will have to wait here for now!"—this line encapsulated the essence of her character: elusive, independent, and in control. And then, when she asked, "And while I was out, what do you think I did?"—it emphasized the disconnect between her different selves, adding yet another layer to her mystery.
Overall, this manga delivered a breathtaking narrative with a truly compelling antagonist. The way her story unfolded, revealing the complexity of her emotions and motives, made for one of the most memorable endings I’ve encountered. It wasn’t just about breaking flags—it was about breaking expectations.

Mission: Yozakura Family by Hitsuji Gondaira is a masterful blend of action, comedy, and heartfelt moments that grips you from the first chapter and never lets go. The story centers on Taiyo Asano, a timid high schooler thrust into a world of espionage and danger when he marries into the Yozakura family—a clan of elite spies. What begins as an act of survival quickly evolves into a journey of self-discovery, growth, and unwavering loyalty.
The manga’s greatest strength lies in its ability to seamlessly juggle its tones. One moment, you're on the edge of your seat as Taiyo battles ruthless assassins; the next, you're laughing out
...
loud at the quirky dynamics of the Yozakura siblings. Each family member has a unique skill set and personality, from the tech genius Nanao to the imposing eldest sibling, Kyoichiro, whose overprotectiveness for his sister Mutsumi borders on the absurd. These dynamics make every chapter an unpredictable and highly entertaining ride.
The art is equally impressive. Gondaira's sharp, dynamic illustrations heighten the intensity of action sequences, while the expressive character designs bring out the humor and charm of the cast. The pacing is impeccable, balancing high-stakes missions with moments of character development that make you deeply invested in Taiyo’s transformation from a meek outsider to a capable and confident spy.
What truly sets Mission: Yozakura Family apart is its heart. Beneath the explosions and covert operations lies a story about family—both the one you’re born into and the one you choose. It’s a touching reminder that strength comes from the bonds we share and that even the most dangerous missions are bearable with the right people by your side.
For fans of spy thrillers, action-packed narratives, or simply compelling storytelling, Mission: Yozakura Family is a must-read. It’s not just a manga—it’s an adrenaline-filled adventure that will have you eagerly awaiting each new chapter. Dive in, and join the Yozakura family on their electrifying escapades. You won’t regret it!

I really like the story that begins with his revenge and finishes with him loving the person that he despised the most, which causes him to change 180 degrees. I also really like the final plot twist regarding whom he will choose between Adagaki and Koiwai.
At the beginning, I really hoped that he would end up with Koiwai, but I was really mistaken. Many of you may disagree with me, but I will say it anyway: the most tormented character in this show was Koiwai. She truly hated the MC and made him despise Adagaki, but with the help she gave to the
...
MC, she fell in love unconsciously. The one who made her realize her true feelings was none other than Adagaki, who gave up her love for her. However, Makabe rejected her.
That is the main reason why I really like the harem, but only until the part where he needs to choose between the girls. For that reason alone, I really hate harems because someone always ends up getting hurt for the sake of being with the other. But you might argue that he rejected the girls to be with the person he loves. Then why didn't he reject the girls from the first time? Why did he give them hope?
It's a great manga, but it still makes me hate harems more than anything else (P.S. only harems that conclude with the MC being in a relationship with only one person).
