At the beginning, I really hoped that he would end up with Koiwai, but I was really mistaken. Many of you may disagree with me, but I will say it anyway: the most tormented character in this show was Koiwai. She truly hated the MC and made him despise Adagaki, but with the help she gave to the MC, she fell in love unconsciously. The one who made her realize her true feelings was none other than Adagaki, who gave up her love for her. However, Makabe rejected her.
That is the main reason why I really like the harem, but only until the part where he needs to choose between the girls. For that reason alone, I really hate harems because someone always ends up getting hurt for the sake of being with the other. But you might argue that he rejected the girls to be with the person he loves. Then why didn't he reject the girls from the first time? Why did he give them hope?
It's a great manga, but it still makes me hate harems more than anything else (P.S. only harems that conclude with the MC being in a relationship with only one person).
